A Spring Garden
I wasn’t always a quilter. I actually began my life with thread as an embroiderer. One could not get a degree in embroidery in college, but one could become a weaver. So I learned to weave and received my Bachelor’s from Eastern Illinois University in Art History with a minor in crafts – weaving. However, I had also been sewing with a sewing machine most of my life, so when I found myself with five adopted children, pretty much all at once, I decided to purchase already woven cloth and sew it. With things like quilters rulers, cutting mats and rotary cutters, piecing fabric together was much less frustrating. I looked at other quilts, thought about what I felt comfortable doing, and just started putting pieces together. As mentioned previously, these pieces are mainly inspired from the idea of an aerial view of a formal garden. Here you have a small pond with greenery and flowers, more greenery and more flowers.
