Jennifer’s Quilt
If you are looking at this quilt and thinking – wait a minute…that is because it is similar to the previous quilt, but not the same. Jennifer is a very kind person who poured herself into creating a positive experience for my two teen-aged grandchildren, and several other teens who ended up in Italy. She really wanted to win the raffled quilt, but I reassured her that one way or another she would have a quilt. One of the reasons she loved the quilt was because of the shield, as her mother had become a priest for the church and it meant a lot to her to have that part in the quilt. Thus I did include the shield and a similar window, but one that has both day and night sky. When I got the night time star fabric which could also be used for the quilt backing, she loved it, so I knew i had to use it on the front of the quilt as well. The suns all have cloudy sky in the centers and night sky around the edge. The red, yellow and blue color combination had worked well for the Pecan Pie quilt, so I just used it again. This time I chose the poppies as poppies stand for remembrance and that seemed like a positive encouragement – remember your mom, remember the kids and the trip itself.
