Butterfly Garden

This piece was also accepted into the Hoffmann challenge from another year. The challenge fabric was butterflies printed on either black or white. The traditional part of this quilt is the fact that it is a nine patch set in the log cabin pattern.anther part of the challenge is one uses aurifil thread. You see nine squares with various types of butterflies embroidered by machine, but I had drawn the designs on the cloth and hand guided the cloth under the foot of the machine to create the butterflies.  

Here are Monarch butterflies flying between leaves and stems which are also embroidered into the quilt. This quilt traveled in 2017.
