My Very First Piece to Get Into a Quilt Show
This was my very first piece to ever get into a quilt show. I obviously had learned how to make the “crowns”, and I believe the piece had to be centered on the theme of gardens, but I am not sure. I took the picture in October , 2006. I wanted to get into a show so badly, I hoped they would not notice it hadn’t been quilted yet. I hemmed the edge so it was finished, and took the picture and entered, as I worked right up to practically the last allowable minute to enter. It has the pink orchid material as well as the yellow orchid fabric in the quilt. I knew how to make nine patches, so those are little gardens all the way around the garden “pond” which has green and pink hydrangea blossoms around it. I had also been taught by my very good best friend for so many years how to find the fabric pattern repeats, cut them and then repeat them so they came out in a special pattern, which I can see I did for the water in all the ponds.
